Hardmode is an AI mock-interview platform for software engineers. Paste a job posting and get the interview loop that role is likely to run, then practise each round out loud against an AI interviewer that knows your background, pushes back, and helps you improve.
// 01 · Why it exists
Reading isn’t practice
An interview tests a skill most engineers rarely use at work: solving a problem out loud, on a clock, while someone asks why. Question lists and videos help you know things. They don’t help you say them under pressure, or handle the follow-up that comes after the part you rehearsed.
Practising with people is the best way to build that skill, but partners are hard to schedule and rarely know the role you’re going for. Hardmode is the practice you can run any evening: built from the job you want, at the difficulty you choose, with feedback after every session on what went well and what to try next.

What it’s built on

Better, not worse
Practice should make you better, not make you feel bad. Hard is tough during the session; the feedback afterwards is never harsh, at any difficulty.

No scores
No grades, pass/fail, verdicts, or rankings, and no comparison with other users. Progress is the rounds you’ve covered, the difficulty you’ve reached, and your focus areas.

Pausing is normal
Credits never expire and there are no streaks to lose. Stop after an offer and come back years later for your next search.

Every level counts
Easy, Medium, and Hard are all real choices, at the same price. Pick the one that fits the day; nothing about the easier levels is lesser.

How your data is handled
01
No training on your data
Hardmode doesn’t train AI models on your data. Sessions run on third-party AI model providers, which process content under their own terms; the privacy policy says what that means.

Recordings stay with you
Recordings are made and downloaded in your browser. We never upload or keep them. The webcam is optional and never analysed.
03
The CV is optional
It’s only used when the AI is the interviewer, and you can switch it off for any session. The uploaded file is deleted once it’s read.
04
Yours to delete
Delete your CV, any session, any plan, or the whole account, or download a copy of your data. We don’t sell personal data.

- That we know any company’s real interview questions. Interview plans are inferred from the job posting.
- That practising here gets you an offer, a level, or a salary. It gets you practice, pushback, and feedback.
- Users, reviews, or logos we don’t have. This site shows none until they’re real.
